Instagram Handover Protocol: Set Zoko as the Primary Receiver
Learn how to set Zoko as the primary receiver for Instagram by configuring the Handover Protocol.
If you’re using Instagram messaging with Zoko for automation or support and encounter errors like #100 or #400 Bad Request, the issue may be related to the Handover Protocol.
The Handover Protocol is a Meta feature that decides which app controls a user’s conversation. It ensures your customers get the right responses at the right time, while preventing multiple apps from sending overlapping or duplicate messages.
If you only use Zoko to manage Instagram conversations, the Handover Protocol is not required. It only becomes important when multiple messaging platforms are connected to the same Instagram account.
Note: Make sure you are using an Instagram Business Account, not a personal account.
To do this:
1. Go to your Facebook Page.
2. Click on the Account section, then select Settings & privacy → Settings.

3. Under Audience and visibility, select Page setup.

4. Click Advanced messaging.

5. In the Handover Protocol section, click Configure.

6. In the pop-up, click Select and choose Zoko as the Primary Receiver.

⚠️ Important: After making changes, refresh your Zoko account to sync the settings.
