Maximizing revenue from existing customers is crucial for business success. An effective approach to achieve this is by implementing a Reorder Reminder Flow. By reminding customers to reorder products or services they have previously purchased, you can increase the value of each transaction and boost your overall revenue. In this article, we cover the four parts of the upsell products flow that will help you better understand:

  • WHY SHOULD YOU USE THIS FLOW?
  • BENEFITS OF THIS FLOW
  • HOW DOES THIS FLOW WORK
  • HOW TO ENABLE THE FLOW

Why Should You Use This Flow?

Send reminders to customers to reorder products they have purchased in the past.

It can increase sales: Nudging customers to reorder can help to increase sales for the merchant. The average consumer will make 300% more purchases from a brand they already know and trust than one they don’t.

It can improve customer loyalty: By reminding customers to reorder, merchants can encourage them to continue doing business with the company and build customer loyalty.

It can improve the customer experience: Nudging customers to reorder can help to make the purchasing process more convenient for customers, as they will not need to search for the product again or go through the process of finding a new supplier.

It can help to reduce customer acquisition costs: It is generally less expensive to retain existing customers than it is to acquire new ones, and nudging customers to reorder can help merchants do this.

It’s also no secret that repeats customers are more profitable for online retailers than first-time shoppers.

Benefits of This Flow

  • Convenience: Simplifies the reordering process, saving customers time and effort.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Enhances satisfaction by providing a hassle-free reordering experience.
  • Higher Conversion Rates: Improves conversion rates, leading to more customers completing their reorders.

How Does This Flow Work

The reorder workflow operates based on a series of triggers, conditions, and message actions. Here's a breakdown of how it works:

1. The Reorder Reminder Flow is initiated when a new order is created in the Shopify store.

2. Condition: The workflow includes a condition that determines if the customer has purchased a specific product. By default, a default product is mentioned in the condition, but you can customize it to match the product you want to track. The condition can be based on the product ID and variant ID.

3. Wait: After the condition is met, the workflow waits for a specified time period before proceeding. The default time can be adjusted according to your preference. This allows the customer to have sufficient time to consume their previous purchase before receiving a reorder reminder.

4. Fetch Order Details: Once the wait time elapses, the workflow retrieves the order details for the customer. This step captures information about the customer's previous order, including the specific product they purchased.

5. Conditions: The workflow checks if the customer's previous order was cancelled. If the order was cancelled, the workflow will not continue, as it focuses on customers who have successfully completed their purchases.

6. Branch: The workflow checks the phone numbers available for the customer, including the root phone number, shipping phone number, and billing phone number. It selects the branch where a valid phone number exists, is not null or empty.

7. Send Message (Inside Branch): After determining the appropriate phone number, the workflow sends a personalized WhatsApp message to the customer. The message includes an upsell for a new product, enticing the customer to make a repeat purchase.

How to Enable the Flow

To enable the reorder flow, you need to follow these steps:

1. Log in to your FlowHippo account.

2. Go to Playbooks, search for "Reorder" and click on "Reorder Reminder Flow".

3. Click "Use this Playbook".

4. Click “Edit” to customize the flow. ‍

5. Click on the "Condition node" to open the configuration.

6. You can set the condition by clicking on "Add condition". In our case, we set the condition to product_id (Trigger >> line_items >> 0 >> product_id) and text value to “contains case insensitive”.

Note: By default, the flow uses a dummy product ID in the condition. However, you can customize the condition to include both the product ID and variant ID.  Refer to our article on How to find Variant ID and Product ID on your Shopify.

7. Click on Save & Close

8. You can change the wait time by clicking on Wait node and change it depending on your business needs. In our case, we set the wait time to 30 days

9. Click on "Publish" to make the flow live.

That's it! You've successfully enabled the Reorder flow.
