Why Do I See Two Charges on Shopify?

If you are using Zoko, you might sometimes notice that you receive two separate charges on your Shopify invoices. This is expected behavior, and this article will help you understand why it happens.
There are two types of charges:
1. Zoko Subscription
- A fixed monthly fee for using Zoko.
- Starts after your free trial ends.
2. Usage Fees
- Based on your actual usage, including fair usage charges, additional channels (e.g., Instagram), and add-ons like AI agents or custom automations.
- Generated at the start of each month (usually around the 2nd or 3rd).
Note: Zoko pushes charges, but Shopify generates the invoice based on your billing cycle.
Why Do You See Two Charges?
You see two charges because these are billed differently:
- The subscription fee is a fixed monthly charge.
- The usage fee is calculated based on the previous month’s usage.
Since they are calculated separately, Shopify displays them as two distinct charges on your invoice.
But this does not mean you are being charged twice for the same thing. It simply reflects two different types of billing.
How Shopify Billing Works
Zoko pushes the charges to Shopify, and Shopify generates the invoice based on its billing cycle.
Because Shopify controls invoice generation, the timing of when these charges appear may vary based on its billing cycle.
That’s it!
