While Facebook Messenger and Instagram have been using hashtags for a while now to create more engaging conversations between brands and consumers on their platforms, WhatsApp has decided to introduce a new feature called WhatsApp catalogs:
It's simple to create a catalog. You can add products, services and even photos from your shopfront.
To create a catalog:
Congratulations on your new catalog! You’re now ready to start sharing it with customers.
To make a product or service available in your catalog:
Once you have created a product or service with details such as name, description and pricing information, you can add it to any WhatsApp group chat by clicking Send Message under Products & Services within Shopify's WhatsApp integration settings page (you must be an admin).
Catalog type: Catalog for products or services and price lists
Product/service types to include in this catalog: Select one or more product/service types from the list (e.g., clothing) that you want to include in this catalog. If you only want to add one type of product or service, leave this field empty. Click Save at the bottom of the page when finished adding them all together!
To view your catalog, you need to be logged into your Shopify account and go to the WhatsApp Catalog for Shopify page.
If you're on desktop: Open up your browser and go to shopify.whatsappcatalog.com/catalogs
If you're on mobile or tablet: Open up WhatsApp on your device and click the link in our push notification or text message that says View My Catalog
